The sophomore release from Portland, OR's sonic gatling gun. Since
their debut earlier this year with 'Rotting Forms'. ATHOTW returns with
three introspective tracks (including a Danzig cover), tracking their
navigation within their own brand of Industrial Metal.
"These new songs are a step forward in many ways. Heavier, more
electronic but still catchy. Sonically we are excited about the
direction we are heading." Says Danny Porter, guitarist and programmer of ATHOTW.
Thrusting and flexing their influences, you may detect subtle
acknowledgements to pioneers such as Atari Teenage Riot to NIN. Veering
into the more electronic lines of their lane. Giving us all a little
prelude on what to expect from the duo in the near future.

"While Wastelayer holds on to a solid foundation of punk rock,
the fast paced and aggressive rhythms, stripped down instrumentation,
and a blistering, raw energy, Slow Code builds on this foundation to
create something really special. There are the dynamic elements of
post-punk, the evolved emotional aggression of post-hardcore, and a few
times they briefly dip into the clever experimentation of prog or the
sheer heaviness of doom or sludge."

“More than anything, Wastelayer is an attempt to understand the
tectonic shifts happening below our feet in terms of culture and
politics. When meaning seems to be harder and harder to come by, making a
bunch of songs about it with your friends seems to offer some much
needed stable ground.” – Slow Code drummer Joshua Hill
Wastelayer is out in stores and digitally worldwide Friday, May 25th. Check out the track by track overview the band gives in this feature about their thought process and prime directives of the album's message.

"Life presents you with so many dichotomies that you can feel pulled in
way too many directions at once, your sense of meaning can get lost in
the mix. It’s about attempting to recenter yourself and a restorative
vision of the world amidst the messiness of contemporary life while
avoiding the urges toward retribution."
Chorus.FM caught up with the Code last week and rapped with them a bit about the new record, leftist politics, and general direction the band is heading to with their upcoming full length 'Wastelayer'. Which is out May 25th.

"Much
of the material on the record brings forth a nostalgia for the band’s
forbears, particularly material from Godflesh, Ministry, and
Pitchshifter. However, Rotting Forms grows beyond just a parroting of
influences as it progresses, and shows itself to be more of a bridge
between two eras of industrial metal, linking their predecessors with
well known contemporaries such as Youth Code."
